The Calgary Flames returned from the All-Star break for a four-game road trip beginning at Madison Square Garden for a tilt against the New York Rangers. TONIGHTS STORYLINES & STATS
This is the first of two matchups this season between the Flames and Red Wings. The Flames swept the season-series in 2021-22, with a pair of 3-0 wins. This is a Pacific Division versus Atlantic Division matchup; The Flames have an overall record of 3-4-2 against Atlantic Division opponents this season and a record of 9-8-6 against Eastern Conference opponents.

LAST SEASON VERSUS DETROIT:
The Flames and Red Wings squared off twice last season, with the Flames going 2-0 against the Atlantic Division opponent. Calgary was triumphant by a 3-0 scoreline in both contests and the Flames were the only team the Red Wings did not score against last season. Jacob Markstrom backstopped the Flames in both games, making 33 saves during their first meeting in Detroit, and 19 in the return fixture in Calgary later that season, along with First Star honors in both games. The last time the Flames surrendered a goal to the Red Wings was on February 23, 2020 in a 4-2 Flames win. Dylan Larkin was the goal scorer, and his third period tally was countered just 1:48 later by an Andrew Mangiapane goal.

SUCCESS AT LITTLE CAESARS:
The Calgary Flames look to continue their winning ways at Little Caesars Arena tonight against the Red Wings. Since Detroit moved from Joe Louis Arena, the Flames have traveled to Detroit four times with a 3-1-0 record for a .750 points percentage, the second best points-percentage the Flames have in any rink they will travel to this year behind Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle (1.000 PTS%). The Flames fell in their first ever trip to Little Caesars Arena in its inaugural season, but since then have won three-straight tilts in Detroit, outscoring the Wings 12-5. Jonathan Huberdeau leads all Flames skaters in points at the almost six-year-old venue with 12 (0G, 12A) in 11 trips.
