White Sox make four roster moves

CHICAGO – Prior to tonight’s game vs. Kansas City, the Chicago White Sox made the following four roster moves:

  • Reinstated RHP Lance Lynn from the Bereavement List;
  • Returned C Yasmani Grandal from his injury rehabilitation assignment at Class AAA Charlotte and reinstated him from the 10-day injured list;
  • Optioned LHP Tanner Banks and C Carlos Pérez to Charlotte.

Lynn, 35, was placed on the Bereavement List on Saturday. He is 3-5 with a 5.00 ERA (43 ER/77.1 IP) and 83 strikeouts over 14 starts this season, his second with the White Sox. Over five starts in August, Lynn has gone 2-1 with a 2.73 ERA (9 ER/29.2 IP), three walks and 34 strikeouts.

Grandal, 33, was placed on the injured list on August 21 with a left knee strain suffered on August 20 at Cleveland while attempting to score on Elvis Andrus’ single. He is hitting .203 (51-251) with five doubles, three home runs and 21 RBI in 74 games this season, his third with the Sox.

Banks, 30, is 1-0 with a 3.26 ERA (17 ER/47.0 IP), one hold and 40 strikeouts in 32 relief appearances with the White Sox this season.

Pérez, 26, appeared in two games with the Sox after his contract was selected from Charlotte on August 21, going 1-4. He made his major-league debut on August 26 vs Arizona.
