Twins place Kyle Garlick on 10-day injured list, reinstate Gilberto Celestino from paternity list

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed outfielder Kyle Garlick on the 10-day Injured List (retroactive to August 2) with a right ribcage contusion and reinstated outfielder Gilberto Celestino from the Paternity List.

Garlick, who suffered the injury colliding with the leftfield wall on July 29 at San Diego, has played in 51 games for the Twins this season, hitting .257 (27-for-105) with three doubles, eight home runs, 18 runs scored, 17 RBI, a .319 on-base percentage and an .833 OPS.

Celestino, who was placed on the Paternity List on Monday to attend the birth of his son, has played in 69 games for the Twins this season, hitting .270 (44-for-163) with seven doubles, one triple, 17 runs scored, nine RBI, 12 walks and a .328 on-base percentage.

Additionally, the Twins have optioned left-handed pitcher Jovani Moran to Triple-A St. Paul and activated right-handed pitcher Tyler Mahle, who was acquired in a trade with the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday.
