Player Notes: – William Nylander posted three points (1G, 2A) in Toronto’s win on Wednesday. Nylander marked his sixth game of the season with three or more points and his 16th multi-point game of the season. Nylander has recorded five points through his last two games (2G, 3A). Nylander marked his 30th goal of the season, reaching the 30-goal mark for the third time in his NHL career. Per NHL Stats, Nylander joined “Auston Matthews (4x; most recently 40 GP in 2021-22), John Tavares (48 GP in 2018-19) and Phil Kessel (54 GP in 2011-12) as just the fourth Maple Leafs skater in the past 20 years to reach the 30-goal mark in 55 or fewer games.” Nylander scored just nine seconds into the first period. Per NHL Stats, Nylander’s goal “marked the fourthfastest goal from the start of a game in franchise history behind only Charlie Conacher (0:07 on Feb. 6, 1932), Mitchell Marner (0:07 on Jan. 3, 2019) and Ted Kennedy (0:08 on Oct. 24, 1953).”

  • Rasmus Sandin scored for the Maple Leafs at 8:14 of the first period and recorded the secondary assist on Auston Matthews’ goal. In posting his 18th point of the season during the game, Sandin set a new NHL career season-high in points, surpassing his previous career-high of 16. Sandin posted his fourth multi-point game of the season.
  • Auston Matthews scored for Toronto at 11:21 of the first period and posted the primary assist on Timmins’ goal. Matthews recorded his 14th multi-point game of the season.
  • John Tavares scored for Toronto at 7:37 of the second period and recorded the primary assist on Sandin’s goal. Tavares has recorded three goals through his last three games. Tavares posted his 15th multi-point game of the season.

February 17, 2023 The Maple Leafs acquired Ryan O’Reilly and Noel Acciari in a three-team trade with St. Louis and Minnesota. St. Louis receives Mikhail Abramov and Adam Gaudette, Toronto’s 1st round pick in ’23, Ottawa’s 3rd round pick in ’23 and Toronto’s 2nd round pick in ’24.
