TODAY’S GAME
SABRES AT ISLANDERS
• This is the second of three meetings between the Sabres and Islanders this season.
• Last meeting: Buffalo defeated New York 3-2 in Buffalo on Jan. 19.
• Next meeting: Saturday, March 25 in New York
• The Sabres are 5-5 in their last 10 games against the Islanders; 0-8-2 on the road.
• This is the 186th game all-time between Buffalo and New York; Buffalo has an 87-73-25 series record.
• The Sabres are 17-16-8 on the road against the Islanders all-time.

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW
• A win today would give the Sabres four consecutive wins over the Islanders for the first time since they earned six straight wins over New York from Oct. 5, 2005 to Jan. 1, 2007.

• A win today would also give Buffalo 33 wins on the season, one more than they earned in 82 games in 2021-22. Buffalo last earned 33 or more wins in 2018-19 (33).

• Rasmus Dahlin has totaled 15 points (1+14) in his last 16 games and is one assist away from becoming the first Sabres defenseman since Phil Housley in 1989-90 (60) to record 50 or more assists in a single season.

• With an assist, he would join Housley and John Van Boxmeer as the only defensemen in franchise history to reach 50 assists in a single season.

• Tage Thompson has recorded 33 points (16+17) in his last 29 games, including 14 points (7+7) in his last nine games.

• Thompson needs one goal in tonight’s game to become the first Sabres skater to record 43 or more goals in a season since Thomas Vanek (43) in 2006-07.

• With a point in tonight’s game, Thompson would earn his eighth point streak of three or more games this season.

• In his last 41 games, Jeff Skinner has notched 49 points (22+27), including 13 points (7+6) in his last 10 games.

• A goal in tonight’s game would mark the second time Skinner has recorded a goal streak of three or more games in 2022-23.

• Casey Mittelstadt (3+9) has collected 12 points in his last 12 games and a point in tonight’s game would give him his first four-game point streak of 2022-23.

• Mittelstadt currently has three points streaks of four or more games in his career.

• In his last 5 games, Dylan Cozens has recorded 6 points (4+2) and a point in tonight’s game would give him a three-game point streak.

• In his last 10 games, Jack Quinn has recorded nine points (4+5).

BACK-TO-BACK
• Today’s game concludes Buffalo’s 11th of 15 sets of back-to-back games this season, which began with a 3-2 defeat at home against the Edmonton Oilers. The Sabres are 5-5-1 in the first game of back-to-back sets and 3-6-1 in the second game so far this season. Buffalo’s point breakdown in back-to-back sets this season is: four points (3), three points (0), two points (2), one point (2) and zero points (3).
