MLS Preview: San Jose Earthquakes (5-3-3) at Los Angeles Galaxy (1-6-3)

The away side has won each of the last four meetings between the Los Aneles Galaxy and San Jose Earthquakes, the longest road winning streak in the history of the California Clasico. San Jose Earthquakes has won five of its last eight matches at the Los Angeles Galaxy (L3) after winning just four of the previous 28 in all competitions from 1996 to 2016 (D6 L18).

The Los Angeles Galaxy have six points through 10 matches, the fewest at this stage of a season in club history. Only one of the 13 teams since 2000 to have six points after 10 matches of a season have gone on to make the playoffs: Sporting Kansas City in 2011.

San Jose Earthquakes’ 18 points through 11 matches are its most at this stage of a season 2016 (also 18). The San Jose Earthquakes are yet to win on the road this year (D2 L3) s their only win n their last 25 away matches in all competitions since the start of last season was a 3-2 victory at the Los Angeles Galaxy in July 2022.

Riqui Puig has been involved in the build-up to the an MLS-high 75open play shots this season, including 12 against the Colorado Rapids on Saturday. Only three of those 75 shots have resulted in goals, however, with Puig directly involved in only one (1 goal. plus one secondary assist).

Jeremey Ebobisse has scored eight goals in 10 career matches against the Los Angeles Galaxy, including scoring in all five of his matches at Dignity Health Sports Park (7 goals). No player in MLS history has scored in six straight regular season road matches against a single opponent.
