MLS Preview: Los Angeles Football Club (9-5-5) at Los Angeles Galaxy (3-9-7)

The Los Angeles Football Club has won three straight MLS matches against the Los Angeles Galaxy (including playoffs) after winning only three of the previous 14 meetings between the sides (D5 L6). Douglas Costa has four assists in his last four MLS matches, including recording the primary assist on both of the Los Angeles Galaxy’s goals against the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday. Costa is the first Los Angeles Galaxy player with two direct goal involvements (goal or primary assist) in a match this MLS season.

Carlos Vela has scored 12 goals in 13 matches against the Los Angeles Galaxy in all competitions, the most by any player against a single opponent in all competitions since the Los Angeles Football Club joined MLS in 2018. Vela has scored multiple goals four times against the Los Angeles Galaxy, including in his last game against them in April.
