THE TWINS: After completing their 10-game homestand with a record of 6-4 (1-2 against the Nationals, 2-1 against the Yankees and 3-1 against the Royals), the Twins began their six-game road-trip with a loss to the White Sox in Chicago last night…tonight, they will continue the trip with the second of three games on the South Side…after tomorrow afternoon’s series finale at Guaranteed Rate Field, Minnesota will travel to Cleveland to play three against the Guardians over the weekend…the Twins have gone 10-6 at Target Field and 7-7 on the road.

TWINS DROP OPENER IN EXTRAS: The Twins lost to the White Sox last night at Guaranteed Rate Field by a score of 3-2 in 10 innings, making them 2-2 in extras this season and 3-6 in one-run games…Joe Ryan was the starter but did not factor into the decision, pitching 6.0 shutout innings, with one hit allowed, two walks and seven strikeouts…Jorge López blew his second-consecutive save, allowing a two-run homer to Eloy Jiménez in the seventh inning…it marked López’s first earned runs allowed of the season and first home run since September 19, 2022 at Cleveland (Luke Maile)…Minnesota scored their two runs on a Trevor Larnach sacrifice fly and a Nick Gordon pinch hit solo home run (1)…the offense struck out 11 times and went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position.
TWINS CALL ON LOU: The Twins have placed right-handed pitcher Tyler Mahle on the 15-day Injured List with a right arm posterior impingement and flexor pronator strain (retroactive to April 30)…Mahle was removed from his start on April 27 vs. Kansas City with the injury, after completing 4.0 innings and allowing one run on two hits while striking out six batters in a 7-1 Twins win…to replace Mahle on the 26-man roster, the Twins have recalled right-handed pitcher Louie Varland from Triple-A St. Paul…this is Varland’s second stint with the Twins this

Andrew Benintendi hit a game-ending single off Caleb Thielbar with two outs in the 10th inning to give the White Sox a 3-2 victory over Minnesota.
The Sox were 0-5 with RISP prior to Benintendi’s game-ending hit, the third of his career and first since 8/5/18 at New York-AL. Michael Kopech posted a no decision despite allowing one run on one hit with fi ve walks and seven strikeouts over 6.0 IP … it marked the fi fth time in his career he has allowed one or no hits over 6.0-plus IP.

A BREAK IN THE CLOUDS?
The White Sox went 8-21 in March/April while playing the most difficult schedule in MLB, as their opponents combined to record a .632 winning percentage (STATS).
