The Atlanta Dream made the announcement today in Atlanta, Georgia, that the forward’s contract has been extended.
Head Coach Tanisha Wright stated, “To continue to have Cheyenne in a Dream uniform thrills me.” CP is driven to be the best she can be, not just for herself but for her teammates as well. She is accustomed to the hard work and dedication required to play at a high level, and during our first season together, she demonstrated such a strong desire to continue developing. I can’t wait to see the steps she takes to improve her game.
Parker has averaged 11.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game over her last two seasons with the Dream. Parker returned to the court for all 36 of Atlanta’s games in 2022, setting career-best records with 176 baskets, 163 defensive rebounds, 222 total rebounds, 71 assists, and 37 steals after missing the final half of the 2021 season to give birth to her daughter Naomi.
“I’m so honored to be a part of that,” Parker said, “I’m so excited about this extension, we’re building something special here in Atlanta.” Tanisha and the coaching staff will keep pushing me, and as a result, they will get the best out of me every time. It’s simple for me to fight hard for this staff because I respect them so much. All I know is that we will have a lot of fun.”
Parker had a career-high five double-doubles and three games in which he scored 20 points at the end of the 2022 season.
General Manager Dan Padover stated, “Last season Cheyenne showed her teammates and our staff how much pride she has in her game and playing for our team.” We are thrilled that Cheyenne will continue to bring that level of intensity and effort to the Dream every night when she takes the court. She has demonstrated that she is one of the best WNBA post players, and the thing that excites us the most is that we believe she has not yet reached her full potential eight years into her career.
