Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson has received a three-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for making contact with home plate umpire Nick Mahrley during Chicago’s game on Friday night against the Oakland Athletics at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago. Michael Hill, Major League Baseball’s Senior Vice President for On-Field Operations, made the announcement.

The suspension of Anderson had been scheduled to start tonight, when the White Sox continue their three-game series against Oakland. However, Anderson has elected to appeal. Thus, the discipline will be held in abeyance until the process is complete.
