White Sox recall Korey Lee from Triple-A Charlotte; option Carlos Pérez to Charlotte

CHICAGO – Prior to today’s series opener vs. Oakland, the Chicago White Sox recalled catcher Korey Lee from Class AAA Charlotte and optioned catcher Carlos Pérez to Charlotte.

Lee, 25, was acquired from Houston on July 28 in exchange for right-handed reliever Kendall Graveman. He is hitting .278/.325/.386 (93-334) with 19 doubles, five home runs, 36 RBI, 39 runs scored and 13 stolen bases over 82 combined games this season with Charlotte and Class AAA Sugar Land in the Astros system.

Lee, 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, is a career .263/.329/.427 (340-1,291) hitter with 44 home runs, 185 RBI and 195 runs scored in 338 games over five minor-league seasons. He also appeared in 12 games with the Astros in 2022, going 4-25 (.160) with four RBI in 12 games.

Lee was selected by Houston in the first round (32nd overall) of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of California, Berkeley, where he was a teammate of White Sox first baseman Andrew Vaughn.

Pérez, 26, is batting .241/.267/.345 (7-29) with three doubles, two RBI and three runs scored in 18 games over three stints with the Sox in 2023.
