CHICAGO — Prior to today’s game vs. Detroit, the Chicago White Sox placed outfielder Billy Hamilton on the 10-day injured list with a right oblique strain and returned outfielder Adam Engel from his rehabilitation assignment at Class AAA Charlotte and reinstated him from the 10-day injured list.
Engel, 29, was placed on the injured list on April 1 (retroactive to March 29) with a strained right hamstring suffered during a spring training game on March 20 vs. Cleveland. He appeared in seven games with Charlotte on a rehab assignment, going 8-28 (.286) with two doubles, one home run, three RBI and four runs scored.
Engel batted .295/.333/.477 (26-88) with five doubles, one triple, three homers, 12 RBI and 11 runs scored over 36 games in 2020. He started all three games of the American League Wild Card Series at Oakland, going 3-12 with a double, home run, RBI and run scored.
Hamilton, 30, is batting .217/.246/.406 (15-69) with three doubles, two triples, two home runs, 10 RBI, 13 runs scored and five stolen bases this season, his first with the White Sox.
