White Sox announce two roster moves

CINCINNATI – Prior to tonight’s series opener at Cincinnati, the Chicago White Sox reinstated right-handed pitcher Joe Kelly from the Paternity List and optioned left-hander Sammy Peralta to Class AAA Charlotte.

The White Sox also sent right-hander Liam Hendriks and infielder Yoán Moncada on injury rehab assignments to Charlotte.

Kelly, who was placed on the Paternity List on Tuesday, is 0-1 with a 7.71 ERA (4 ER/4.2 IP), seven strikeouts and two holds this season, his second with Chicago.

Peralta made his major-league debut yesterday vs. Minnesota and allowed two runs with two strikeouts over 0.2 IP. He was recalled from the Knights on Tuesday.

Hendriks is scheduled to pitch tonight at Class AAA Gwinnett. He has been on the injured list since the beginning of the season while undergoing treatment for Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Hendriks announced on April 20 he was cancer free after completing chemotherapy on April 5.

Moncada, who has been on the injured list since April 11 with lower back soreness, is hitting .308/.325/.564 (12-39) with four doubles, two home runs, five RBI and four runs scored in nine games this season.
