White Sox announce three roster moves

KANSAS CITY – Prior to tonight’s game at Kansas City, the Chicago White Sox reinstated right-handed pitcher Lucas Giolito from the COVID-19 related injured list, optioned right-hander Davis Martin to Class AAA Charlotte and transferred right-hander Lance Lynn to the 60-day injured list.

Giolito will start tonight’s game after being placed on the injured list on May 13. He is 2-1 with a 2.70 ERA (8 ER/26.2 IP), 37 strikeouts (12.49 per 9.0 IP) and a .221 (21-95) opponents average in five starts this season. Giolito earned the win in his last start on May 10 vs. Cleveland after allowing one run on six hits in a season-high 7.0 IP.

Martin made his major-league debut as the starter in Game 2 last night and allowed one run on five hits with seven strikeouts in 5.0 IP.

Lynn has been on the injured list since April 4 following surgery to repair a torn tendon in his right knee suffered during spring training. He is eligible to be reinstated from the injured list on June 6.

Following the moves, the White Sox 40-man roster remains at 40.
