Washington Nationals recall Jordan Weems

The Washington Nationals recalled right-handed pitcher Jordan Weems and placed right-handed pitcher Jackson Tetreault on the 15-day Injured List (retroactive to July 3) with a stress fracture of the right scapula on Monday. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.

Weems, 29, returns to the Nationals after going 2-2 with 11 saves and a 3.60 ERA in 25 games for Triple-A Rochester. He struck out 39 batters, walked eight and allowed four home runs. His 11 saves led Washingtonā€™s Minor League system and ranked fourth in the International League.

This will be Weemsā€™ second Major League stint this season. He had his contract selected on May 31 and appeared in six games out of Washingtonā€™s bullpen. He posted a 9.95 ERA with six strikeouts and six walks before being optioned to Rochester on June 14.

Tetreault, 26, went 2-2 with a 5.14 ERA in four starts during his first Major League season in 2022.
