Washington Nationals recall Hunter Harvey

The Washington Nationals recalled right-handed pitcher Hunter Harvey from Triple-A Rochester and placed right-handed pitcher Mason Thompson on the 10-day Injured List with a right biceps strain on Sunday. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.

Harvey, 27, joined the Nationals organization in 2022 after being claimed off waivers from San Francisco on March 21. He was optioned to Triple-A Rochester where he appeared in two games prior to being recalled. In 2021, Harvey appeared in nine games out of Baltimore’s bullpen, pitching to a 4.15 ERA (4 ER/8.2 IP).

After spending his entire professional career in Baltimore’s system, Harvey made his Major League debut with the Orioles in 2019. He was ranked in the Orioles’ top 10 prospects from 2014-2020 according to Baseball America.

Thompson, 24, made two appearances out of Washington’s bullpen.
