Devin Smeltzer optioned to St. Paul

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have recalled left-handed pitcher Jovani Moran from Triple-A St. Paul.

Moran, who will be making his fourth stint with the Twins this season, has appeared in 20 games for Minnesota, going 0-1 with a 1.93 ERA (23.1 IP, 5 ER), 15 walks, 31 strikeouts and a .157 opponent batting average. During his most recent stretch with the Saints, Moran allowed seven runs on 10 hits in 9.0 innings pitched, with two walks and 20 strikeouts in seven relief appearances.

To make room on the 26-man roster, the Twins have optioned left-handed pitcher Devin Smeltzer to St. Paul. Smeltzer, who was recalled by Minnesota on August 20, appeared in three games during his most recent stint with the Twins, going 1-0 with a 1.17 ERA (7.2 IP, 1 ER), two walks and three strikeouts.
