Twins recall Jorge Alcala

Josh Winder optioned to Triple-A St. Paul

CLEVELAND, OH – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have recalled right-handed pitcher Jorge Alcala from Triple-A St. Paul.

Alcala, who made the Twins’ Opening Day roster and was optioned to Triple-A on April 21, appeared in six games for the Twins from April 1-20, posting a 4.50 ERA (10.0 IP, 5 ER) with seven hits allowed, five walks and seven strikeouts. In four games for the Saints, he went 1-1 with a 1.93 ERA (4.2 IP, 1 ER), four walks and six strikeouts.

To make room for Alcala on the 26-man roster, the Twins have optioned right-handed pitcher Josh Winder to Triple-A St. Paul. Winder, who began the season on the 15-day Injured List with a right shoulder strain, appeared in one game for the Twins on April 30 vs. Kansas City, allowing two runs on three hits in 0.2 innings pitched, with one walk and one strikeout.
