Twins recall Ben Rortvedt from Triple-A St. Paul

Charlie Barnes optioned to St. Paul

 

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have recalled catcher Ben Rortvedt from Triple-A St. Paul.

 

Rortvedt has appeared in 30 games for the Saints this season, hitting .236 (26-for-110) with five doubles, four home runs, 18 RBI, 17 runs scored, seven walks and a .292 on-base percentage. In three previous stints with the Twins this season, he has hit .129 (9-for-70) with one double, two home runs, five RBI and five runs scored.

 

To make room for Rortvedt on the 26-man roster, the Twins have optioned left-handed pitcher Charlie Barnes to Triple-A St. Paul. Barnes appeared in six games (5 starts) across two stints with the Twins this season, going 0-3 with a 6.59 ERA (27.1 IP, 20 ER), 11 walks and 13 strikeouts. He started for the Twins last night against the Brewers, allowing four runs (3 earned) on four hits in 4.0 innings pitched.
