CLEVELAND, OH – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have recalled outfielder/first baseman Alex Kirilloff from Triple-A St. Paul and selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Dereck Rodríguez from the Saints.

He appeared in 11 total games on rehab assignment with Low-A Fort Myers (4 games) and St. Paul (7 games), hitting .316 (12-for-38) with one double, four home runs, 12 RBI, seven walks, 10 runs scored, a .447 on-base percentage and a 1.105 OPS in those games. To make room for Kirilloff on the 26-man roster, the Twins have placed left-handed pitcher Caleb Thielbar on the 15-day Injured List with a right oblique strain (retroactive to May 3). To make room for Rodríguez on the 26-man roster, the Twins have optioned outfielder Trevor Larnach to St. Paul. Larnach, 26, has hit .221 (23-for-104) with three doubles, one triple, three home runs, 19 RBI, 13 runs scored and a .686 OPS in 31 games for the Twins this season.
To make room for Rodríguez on the 40-man roster, the Twins have transferred right-handed pitcher Tyler Mahle to the 60-day Injured List. Mahle, who was placed on the 15-day Injured List on Wednesday with right arm posterior impingement and a flexor pronator strain, has gone 1-2 with a 3.16 ERA (25.2 IP, 9 ER), five walks and 28 strikeouts in five starts for the Twins this season.
