Twins place Chris Archer on 15-day injured list

CHICAGO, IL – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed right-handed pitcher Chris Archer on the 15-day Injured List (retroactive to July 2) with left hip tightness.

Archer, 33, has gone 2-3 with a 3.08 ERA (61.1 IP, 21 ER), 30 walks, 47 strikeouts, a .208 opponent batting average and a 1.26 WHIP in 15 starts for the Twins this season.

To replace Archer on the 26-man roster, the Twins have recalled right-handed pitcher Josh Winder from Triple-A St. Paul. Winder, who will be making his third stint with the Twins this season (April 8-May 21 and June 28), has appeared in eight games (4 starts) for the Twins, going 3-2 with a 3.06 ERA (35.1 IP, 12 ER), with 10 walks, 24 strikeouts and a .235 opponent batting average, including 3-1 with a 1.27 ERA (21.1 IP, 3 ER) in those four starts. He will start tonight’s game against the Chicago White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field.
