Twins place Byron Buxton on 10-day injured list

Gilberto Celestino recalled from Triple-A St. Paul

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed outfielder Byron Buxton on the 10-day Injured List with a left hand fracture.

Buxton, who returned from his rehab assignment and was reinstated from the 10-day Injured List on Saturday (right hip strain), suffered the injury last night after being hit by a pitch in the fourth inning. Buxton has hit .369 (38-for-103) with 11 doubles, 10 home runs, 19 RBI, 21 runs scored, a .767 slugging percentage and a 1.176 OPS in 27 games this season. He had gone 4-for-11 (.364) with a double, a home run and two RBI in three games since his recent return.

To replace Buxton on the 26-man roster, the Twins have recalled outfielder Gilberto Celestino from Triple-A St. Paul. Celestino, who was optioned to St. Paul on Friday, has hit .125 (4-for-32) with one double, one home run and one RBI in 10 games for the Twins this season.
