Red Sox claim right-handed pitcher Logan Gillaspie off waivers from Baltimore Orioles

Boston Transfers Outfielder Jarren Duran to 60-Day Injured List

BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today claimed right-handed pitcher Logan Gillaspie off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles and optioned him to Triple-A Worcester. To make room on the 40-man roster, the club transferred outfielder Jarren Duran to the 60-Day Injured List.

Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom made the announcement.

Gillaspie, 26, has pitched in 11 games for the Orioles this season, allowing six runs in 9.0 innings. The right-hander has also posted a 4.71 ERA (19 ER/36.1 IP) in 34 games for Triple-A Norfolk in 2023. Originally signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Milwaukee Brewers in July 2018, the California native has recorded a 4.10 ERA (12 ER/26.1 IP) in 28 games with the Orioles (2022-23).

Duran, 26, was placed on the Injured List on August 21 with a left great toe sprain. The left-handed hitter has batted .295 (98-for-332) with 34 doubles, two triples, eight home runs, 46 runs scored, and 24 stolen bases in 102 games with the Red Sox this season. Selected by Boston in the seventh round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft, the California native has batted .258 (166-for-643) with 51 doubles, 86 runs scored, and 33 stolen bases in 193 career games (2021-23).
