Red Sox announce roster moves

BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox today announced the following roster moves:

  • Reinstated right-handed pitcher Tanner Houck and outfielder Jarren Duran from the Restricted List.
  • Returned infielder Yolmer Sánchez to Triple-A Worcester following last night’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays.
  • Designated right-handed pitcher Silvino Bracho for assignment.

Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom made the announcement.

Houck, 26, is 4-3 with six saves, a 3.42 ERA (18 ER/47.1 IP), a .238 opponent batting average, and 47 strikeouts in 22 outings (four starts) for the Red Sox this season. Over his last 14 appearances, the right-hander has a 0.87 ERA (2 ER/20.2 IP) with 24 strikeouts and four walks. 

Duran, 25, is hitting .327 (17-for-52) with an .886 OPS, nine runs scored, five doubles, two triples, and four stolen bases in 13 games for Boston this season. He has batted leadoff in each of his 13 games, making 11 starts in center field, one in right field, and one at designated hitter.

Sánchez, 30, made his Red Sox debut last night, starting at second base and going 0-for-1 with a walk and a sacrifice bunt. He is batting .253 (55-for-217) with an .805 OPS in 68 games for Worcester this season, making 46 starts at second base, 16 at third base, and six at shortstop.

Bracho, 29, was selected to the Major League roster on Tuesday but did not pitch for the Red Sox. The right-hander has posted a 3.16 ERA (11 ER/31.1 IP) and 10.34 strikeouts per nine innings (36 strikeouts) over 18 appearances (one start) for Worcester this season.
