BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today signed right-handed pitcher Cooper Criswell to a one-year contract for the 2024 season. The club’s 40-man roster is now at 39.
Criswell, 27, pitched in 10 games for the Tampa Bay Rays in 2023, all in relief, recording a 5.73 ERA (21 ER/33.0 IP). Each of his 10 appearances with the Rays lasted at least 2.0 innings, including four outings of at least 4.0 innings. The right-hander also posted a 3.93 ERA (37 ER/84.2 IP) in 23 games (17 starts) with Triple-A Durham in 2023. Originally selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the 13th round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft, the Georgia native owns a 5.97 ERA (25 ER/37.2 IP) in 12 career Major League games (two starts) with the Angels (2021) and Rays (2022-23).
