Garver will be in the starting lineup as the designated hitter for tonight’s road trip opener in Houston

Houston, Texas — The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has activated catcher Mitch Garver from the 10-day Injured List and optioned infielder/outfielder Nick Solak to Triple-A Round Rock.

Garver is in the starting lineup for tonight’s road trip opener in Houston, serving as the designated hitter. He was on the Injured List from May 9-18 with a right forearm flexor muscle strain and today was the first date that he was eligible to return to the active roster. Garver played 2 games on injury rehabilitation assignment with Double-A Frisco (0-for-2, 2 BB, R as DH on Tuesday vs. Corpus Christi) and Triple-A Round Rock (1-for-3, BB, 2 R as DH last night at Sugar Land). He will be seeking his first action with Texas since the first game of a doubleheader on May 8 at New York-AL. Garver is batting .205 with 3 home runs and 8 RBI in 22 games with Texas this season.

Solak has batted .209 with 2 home runs and 3 RBI in 26 games for Texas this season. He was a member of the Opening Day roster for a third consecutive season this year. Solak’s 244 games with the Rangers are the second-most for any player since the start of 2019, trailing only Isiah Kiner-Falefa (281).

After today’s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the Major League roster, along with two players (Jonathan Hernández and José Leclerc) on the 60-day Injured List.
