MLS Preview: Los Angeles Football Club (7-3-2) at Columbus Crew SC (3-4-4)

Los Angeles FC has won both of its meetings with the Crew by an aggregate score of 5-0. LAFC won the last meeting between the sides, 3-0, at Historic Crew Stadium.

The Crew have just one win in their last eight games (D3 L4), a 3-0 home victory over D.C. United in late April. Columbus has had fewer than the 13 points they have now through 11 games of a season just three times in club history.

Los Angeles FC has lost consecutive matches for the first time since a three-match losing streak in late September 2021. LAFC has conceded multiple goals in each of its last three matches (D1 L2) after conceding more than once just twice in their first nine games in 2022.

Lucas ZelarayĆ”n has been involved in just one goal in the Crewā€™s last seven eight matches after contributing to six goals in the teamā€™s first three games this season. Since ZelarayĆ”n joined the Crew in 2020, Columbus has won 21 of the 29 matches in which heā€™s contributed to a goal (D4 L4, incl. playoffs) and just 11 of the 43 matches when he doesnā€™t have one or doesnā€™t play.

Carlos Vela ended a seven-match MLS scoring drought with a penalty against Austin on Wednesday. The run equaled Velaā€™s longest without scoring in MLS, also going seven straight without a goal from August-November 2021.
