Prior to today’s game, the Phillies recalled right-handed pitcher Yunior Marte from triple-A Lehigh Valley. To make room for Marte on the 26-man roster, right-handed pitcher Erich Uelmen was optioned to Lehigh Valley following last night’s game.
Phillies President of Baseball Operations David Dombrowski made the announcement.
Marte, 28, made the Phillies Opening Day roster and has made six relief appearances over his three stints with the Phillies this season.
He was originally signed by the Kansas City Royals as an amateur free agent on July 19, 2012 and was acquired from the San Francisco Giants by the Phillies for left-handed pitcher Erik Miller on Jan. 8, 2023.
Uelmen, 26, made his Phillies debut last night against the Chicago Cubs, tossing 1.0 inning in relief.
Originally selected by the Cubs in the fourth round of the 2017 MLB Draft, Uelmen was acquired by the Phillies in exchange for cash considerations on Jan. 4, 2023.
