A’s place RHP Rucinski on injured list; recall RHP Kaprielian from Las Vegas

OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland A’s placed right-handed pitcher Drew Rucinski on the 15-day injured list retroactive to May 17 with a stomach illness and recalled right-handed pitcher James Kaprielian, who is scheduled to start tomorrow’s game, the club announced today.

Rucinski began the season on the injured list with a strained left hamstring and was reinstated on April 28.   The 34-year-old right-hander is 0-4 with a 9.00 ERA in four starts for the A’s in his first Major League assignment since 2018, as he spent the last four seasons pitching in Korea.

Kaprielian was recalled from Las Vegas May 13 for a spot start against the Rangers, in which he allowed three runs on six hits and a walk in 7.0 innings before being optioned postgame.  He is 0-3 with a 10.17 ERA in seven games, four starts, with Oakland and 1-0 with a 1.08 ERA in two starts with the Aviators.
