NEW YORK – Florida Panthers forward Sam Bennett has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for cross-checking Toronto Maple Leafs forward Michael Bunting during Game 2 of the teams’ Second Round series in Toronto on Thursday, May 4, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.
The incident occurred at 15:00 of the second period. Bennett was assessed a minor penalty for cross-checking.
The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
