GOLDEN KNIGHTS LAST GAME RECAP
February 25 – Vegas Golden Knights 2, Dallas Stars 3 SO
The Golden Knights (35-18-6) were taken down by the Dallas Stars (31-16-12), 3-2, in a shootout on Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena. Michael Amadio scored in the second period to give Vegas a 1-0 lead. Two minutes later, Wyatt Johnson knotted the game for the Stars at 1-1. In the final period, Jack Eichel gave the Golden Knights a 2-1 edge with 4:36 to play. Roope Hintz then tied the game at 2-2 to send it to overtime. In the shootout, Vegas went scoreless, while Jason Robertson and Roope Hintz converted for Dallas to win it.
LAST GAME BY THE NUMBERS
- Laurent Brossoit and Jake Oettinger each faced 43 shots, the first time opposing goaltenders have each posted 40+ saves in a Golden Knights game
- Reilly Smith had eight shots on net against Dallas, matching his career-high previously set during the 2017-18 season
- With his goal, Eichel becomes the first Vegas player to reach the 20-goal mark this season
- Vegas extends their point streak to nine games, going back to their game against the Islanders on Jan. 28
Against the Avalanche
The contest between the Golden Knights and the Avalanche on Monday is the third and final meeting this season between the two clubs. The last time these teams met, Vegas defeated Colorado, 3-2, at Ball Arena. Despite Nathan MacKinnon giving the Avalanche an early lead, Michael Amadio leveled the game at 1-1 entering the first intermission. Nicolas Roy then gave Vegas the lead with a two-goal period and despite a third period goal by Mikko Rantanen, the visiting team came away with the win. The Golden Knights are 10-11-1 against the against the defending Stanley Cup Champions and will look for their first consecutive wins over the Avalanche since winning Mar. 27 and Apr. 28, 2021.
