Player Notes: – Zach Aston-Reese opened the scoring for the Maple Leafs at 2:54 of the first period and scored his second goal of the game at 14:59 of the second period. Aston-Reese tied a single-game NHL career-high with two goals which he has marked on four occasions during his NHL career.
- Mitch Marner scored for Toronto at 12:30 of the first period. Marner extended his point streak to five games where he has posted 10 points (3G, 7A). Per NHL Stats, “Marner recorded a point in a game for the 58th time this season. - Auston Matthews scored the game-winning goal on a Maple Leafs power play opportunity at 17:38 of the first period. Matthews has scored in four of his last five games, posting seven points (4G, 3A) during the five-game span.
- Erik Gustafsson posted the primary assist on Aston-Reese’s first goal of the game. With the assist, Gustafsson recorded his first point as a Maple Leaf.
- John Tavares posted the secondary assist on Marner’s goal and the primary assist on Matthews’ goal. Tavares posted his eighth multi-assist game of the season and his 18th multipoint game of the season.
- Ilya Samsonov stopped 32 of 34 shots he faced in Friday’s win. With his 24th win of the season, Samsonov set a new career-high in wins.

TONIGHT’S STORYLINES
The Maple Leafs are set to take on the Ottawa Senators tonight in the third of four matchups between the clubs this season. Toronto has posted a 1-1-0 record in the team’s first two meeting against the Senators during the 2022-23 campaign. The Maple Leafs will play their fourth and final meeting against the Senators on April 1st in Ottawa at Canadian Tire Centre. The Maple Leafs have won four of their last five games against the Senators, with only one of their last five games being played on the road. Toronto is playing in their second game of a back-to-back, they have posted a 6-3-1 record in such games during the 2022-23 season. Tonight marks the first of five-consecutive road games for the Maple Leafs.

LAST GAME: March 16, 5-4 loss vs. Colorado: Eller scored the game-winning goal at 18:09 of the second period as Colorado won their 11th one-goal game on the road this season with a 5-4 victory over Ottawa at Canadian Tire Centre. Rantanen (one goal, two assists) and MacKinnon (three assists) both recorded three-point games while Makar added one goal and one assist to become the second defenceman in franchise history with 60 career multi-point games. Nichushkin and Rodrigues rounded out the scoring for the Avalanche. Batherson became the fifth 20-goal scorer of the season for the Senators while Pinto, Hamonic and Tkachuk also found the back of the net. Stützle recorded his second career three-assist contest.
