The Tampa Bay Lightning skated to a franchise record 12th-straight win on home ice with a 5-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings Jan. 28 at AMALIE Arena…The Lightning improved to 32-15-1 this season with a home record of 20-4-1…Brayden Point opened the scoring 5:02 into the first period after Nikita Kucherov jumped on a loose puck behind the LAK net and sent a pass to the slot where Point scored his 29th goal of the season…Pierre-Edouard Bellemare doubled Tampa Bay’s lead just 1:19 later after Nick Perbix pinched up the right boards and intercepted a breakout pass before feeding sending a pass to the high slot for Bellemare, who leaned into a wrist shot and buried his third goal of the year…Jaret Anderson-Dolan made it a 2-1 game when he scored LAK’s first goal at the 10:12 mark of the first period…Corey Perry restored the Lightning’s two-goal lead 5:45 later when he jumped on a rebound in front off a point shot from Perbix and scored his ninth goal of the season to make it a 3-1 game with Vladislav Namestnikov picking up the secondary assist…With 4:40 remaining in the second period, Ross Colton jumped on another rebound off a point shot from Perbix and beat Jonathan Quick to increase the lead to 4-1 with Pat Maroon recording the secondary helper…Phillip Danault got LAK back within two when he made it a 4-2 game at the 19:08 mark of the second period…With 3:57 remaining in regulation, Victor Hedman scored the final goal of the game when he stepped into a pass from Steven Stamkos and hammered home his fourth goal of the season on Tampa Bay’s only shot of the third period with Point picking up the secondary assist.

CATS STATS
- Per NHL PR, the 20 seconds between the Panthers’ game-tying goal and overtime winner Jan. 28 vs. BOS was the shortest such span by a team in NHL history in contests where the sudden-death provision was used.
- The Panthers became the second team in NHL history to fall behind in the final minute of regulation, tie the game and then score the overtime winner in the opening 60 seconds of extra time. Florida joined the Hartford Whalers on Dec. 7, 1990.

JANUARY RECAP
Florida enters February after posting an 8-5-2 record during the month of January, their 18 points tied for fifth-most among teams in January. Their 57 goals from Jan. 1-31 ranked second behind SEA (60) and they averaged 34.0 shots per game (6th). Matthew Tkachuk recorded 23 points (8-15-23) in January, tied for the league lead with Jack Hughes. His 15 assists also tied for the league lead during that span along with Aleksander Barkov and Nathan MacKinnon, and Tkachuk’s five power-play goals nine power-play points also tied for the league lead.
BATTLE OF FLORIDA
The Panthers face off against their cross-state rival for third time this season. In their previous matchup at FLA Live Arena on Oct. 21, Tampa Bay took home the victory in overtime behind two goals from Brayden Point.
