TEAM NOTES
TONIGHT’S MATCHUP
Tonight, the New York Islanders visit the Pittsburgh Penguins in the fourth and final matchup between the two clubs this season. The Islanders have won each of their last three meetings with Pittsburgh, including a 4-2 comeback win the last time the Islanders visited PPG Paints Arena on February 20. Bo Horvat, Brock Nelson, and Zach Parise each recorded multi-point games to help the Islanders score three unanswered goals in the third period.
In their franchise history, the Islanders have never won each meeting of a season series with the Penguins and have also never swept each road meeting with the Penguins in a season. A win tonight would solidify their first winning record on the road against Pittsburgh since the 2014-15 campaign, when the Islanders were 2-1-0 in three visits to Pittsburgh.
The Islanders enter tonight’s matchup with points in each of their last four games (3-0-1) and a 3-1-1 record in their last five meetings against Metropolitan Division opponents (two of those wins are against the Penguins, on February 17 and 20). They improved to 6-2-2 in their last ten games in their last matchup on Tuesday night, when they defeated the Buffalo Sabres at home.
