Tonight, the New York Islanders visit the Columbus Blue Jackets in the first of three matchups between the two clubs this season. The last time these teams met was March 24, 2023, when Kyle Palmieri scored a goal and recorded an assist to help the Islanders collect a point in overtime. They will look to earn their first win of the season against a Metropolitan Division opponent and first road win of the 2023-24 season tonight. BLUE JACKETS’ BUSY WEEK The Blue Jackets stretched their points streak to four-straight (2-0-2) after collecting a point in a 4-3 overtime loss at Montreal on Thursday. The club kicked off the stretch in sweeping its first back-to-back set of the season last week, earning a 3-1 win over Calgary on Oct. 20 and 5-4 overtime win at Minnesota on Oct. 21. The team also earned a point in a 3-2 OT loss to Anaheim on Tuesday. The club plays four games in seven days from Oct. 24-30, with two at home (Oct. 24 vs. ANA and Oct. 28 vs. NYI) and two on the road (Oct. 26 at MTL and Oct. 30 at DAL). Thursday’s game against the Canadiens kicked off a stretch of four of the next five and seven of nine against Eastern Conference teams.
