On the other side, Flames Associate Coach Kirk Muller was a member of the Montreal Canadiens for parts of four seasons from 1991 to 1995, winning a Stanley Cup in 1993 and captained the team during the 1994-95 campaign. BLASTY’S BACK:
Tonight’s game will be the second straight game for the Flames in their black third jersey nicknamed ‘Blasty’. The Flames first re-introduced the black throwback jersey during the NHL’s first Reverse Retro series during the Covid-shortened 2021 season, going 3-3-0 in the six games they wore it. Dillon Dube recorded the most goals in Blasty in 2021 with four, including his first NHL hat trick against Ottawa in a 7-4 win on March 4th, 2021. Dube continued his scoring ways in Blasty with a shorthanded goal coupled with a pair of assists in Tuesday night’s 6-2 win over Florida. The Flames announced the black threads would be returning in October and are slated to wear Blasty 11 more times this season.

HOT STARTS:
The Flames came out of the gates hot to start the game on Tuesday night against the Panthers, finding the net three times in the opening 20 minutes with an even-strength goal, a shorthanded goal, and a power play goal. That was the third time they’ve scored three goals in the first period this season with the other two times coming against Edmonton to open the season on October 15th, and LA earlier in November. They have 27 first period goals and are tied for the second most goals in the first period in the NHL behind the Vegas Golden Knights.
