Jan. 10, 2023 – STARS 2 at ISLANDERS 1 (shootout)
Making 26 of 27 saves in regulation and overtime and stopping all three attempts in the shootout, goaltender Jake Oettinger
backstopped the Stars to a 2-1 shootout victory over the New York Islanders at UBS Arena on Tuesday. After allowing a goal in the
opening frame, Oettinger was unflappable the rest of the way. He stopped 18 of 18 from the second period on to improve his record this
season to 19-6-3 overall. The Stars swept the two-game season series, also winning 5-2 at American Airlines Center on Nov. 19, 2022.
Forward Jason Robertson (1-0—1) potted his team-leading 29th goal of the season in the first preiod and scored the lone goal in the
shootout, while forwards Joe Pavelski (0-1—1) and Tyler Seguin (0-1—1) picked up assists.

DALLAS STARS NOTES
TONIGHT’S GAME: It’s the finale of a brief two-game trek to New York as the Stars clash with the Rangers tonight at Madison Square Garden (6 p.m. CT, TV: Bally Sports Southwest, Radio: The Ticket 96.7-FM/1310-AM). This closes out the two-game season series between Dallas and New York, which saw the Rangers skate to a 6-3 victory on Oct. 29, 2022 at American Airlines Center. The last time the Stars visited MSG was on Oct. 14, 2021, a game they won 3-2 in OT to kick start the 2021-22 regular season. Following tonight’s game, Dallas will return home to host the Calgary Flames on Saturday afternoon (1 p.m. CT).

- Dallas enters tonight’s game with wins in four of the past five trips to Madison Square Garden, posting a 4-1-0 record dating back to the 2016-17 season.

RECAP/NOTES: The Rangers extended their point streak to six games with a shootout victory against the Wild to begin the three-game homestand. The Rangers rallied from down two goals to earn the win for their third multi-goal comeback of the season and 11th comeback win overall.
