LAST GAME RECAP – VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS 5, WINNIPEG JETS 2
Jonathan Marchessault notched the fourth hat trick of his career as the Vegas Golden Knights (10-0-1) defeated the Winnipeg Jets (4- 4-2), 5-2 on Thursday night at T-Mobile Arena. William Karlsson scored the only goal of the first period, extending his point streak to eight games, a new career-high for the centerman. At the start of the middle frame, Winnipeg’s Kyle Connor tied things up at 1-1 at the 6:17 mark. Just 13 seconds later, Mason Appleton was sent to the box with a high-sticking double minor, awarding the Golden Knights with a four-minute man advantage. 45 seconds into the first power play, Marchessault scored his first goal of the night to help Vegas regain the lead at 2-1. Before the second man advantage could expire, Ivan Barbashev doubled the home team’s lead and made it 3-1 to enter intermission. Vegas took an early penalty to start the third period, which led to Alex Iafallo’s second power-play goal against the Golden Knights this season to bring the Jets back within one. But, Marchessault scored two more times in the final frame for the hat trick to push Vegas ahead for the 5-2 victory. Golden Knights goaltender Logan Thompson recorded his fifth straight win, stopping 29 of 31 shots for a .935 save percentage and remains perfect on the season.
