This is the third and final matchup this season between the Flames and Avalanche. These teams have split the season-series so far in 2022-23. THIS SEASON VERSUS COLORADO:
The Calgary Flames opened their season at home on October 13th against the Colorado Avalanche. The Avs opened the scoring courtesy of Bowen Byram but the Flames would respond with five-unanswered tallies from Brett Ritchie, Dillon Dube, Rasmus Andersson, Tyler Toffoli, and Elias Lindholm. Colorado would try and battle back in the third with goals from MacKinnon and Nichushkin, but the Flames would hold on and win 5-3 in meeting number one. In their second matchup Calgary fell behind the eight-ball early with Mikko Rantanen scoring quickly to give the Avs an early advantage, followed by a pair of goals by Artturi Lehkonen to make it 3-0 Colorado through 20. In the third the Flames tried to start a rally after Tyler Toffoli gave the Flames life, with his 16th of the season. But that is as close as Calgary would come, and the Flames fell 4-1 as Colorado evened the season-series.
