deficit. The Devils improved their all-time series record to 2-7 when trailing 2-0 in a postseason series (1994 won vs Boston). Jersey’s team earned more than one shutout in a single playoff series for the first time since 2002-03 when the Devils posted three shutouts vs Anaheim in the Cup final. The Devils earned two shorthanded goals in a single playoff series for the first time since 2005-06 (3 SHG) and ironically enough was against the Rangers. It also marked the sixth time in franchise history that the Devils recorded two, or more, shorthanded goals in a single playoff series:

The Devils did not allow a power-play goal against in all four wins vs the Rangers, while allowing at least one PPG against in all three
losses vs New York. New Jersey’s Game 7 victory at Prudential Center on Monday, May 1, marked the team’s first-ever Game 7 win at the Rock (1-1). The Devils improved to 8-7 when playing in a Game 7. The Devils improved to 5-0 all-time when scoring first in a Game 7, after Monday’s victory:

GAME 2
The Devils dropped Game 2 for consecutive playoff series in 2022-23. Jersey’s team was held to one goal in a playoff contest for the fourth time this postseason, which are the most for all active playoff teams when scoring one, or fewer, goals in a contest for the 2022-23 Stanley Cup Playoffs. There are no other active playoff teams who’ve logged more than one game when scoring one, or fewer, goals in a contest this postseason. The Devils were outshot 35-29 in Game 2 and fell to 2-3 when an opponent outshot Jersey’s team this postseason. The Devils are 1-2 when outshooting an opponent this postseason and 1-0 when the shots are even with an opposing squad. New Jersey enters Game 3 with an overall postseason franchise game-by-game record of 25-20 in a Game 3 played and 11-11 record at home. The team owns a 1-0 record in a Game 3 played for the 2022-23 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Jersey’s all-time series record when trailing 2-0 in a round is 2-7, while the most recent series came for this matter was earned vs NY Rangers in Round 1 (20223) – and 0-5 when starting a playoff round on the road. Per NHL Pr, there have been two instances when a team trailed 2-0 in multiple series in the same playoff year and won both series:

SEASON TEAM SERIES DETAILS
2010-2011 Boston Bruins 2
CQF 4 vs 3 MTL
SCF 4 vs 3 VAN
2008-2009 Pittsburgh Penguins 2
CSF 4 vs 3 WSH
SCF 4 vs 3 DET

Yet, a team has never won both series when trailing 2-0 in the first and second rounds in the same playoff year. The last time that the Devils hosted a contest in Round 2 for the postseason was during the 2011-12 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
