New York, NY – The New York Sirens have strengthened their blue line, announcing the signing of veteran defender Jincy Roese to a one-year Standard Player Agreement for the 2025–26 Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) season.

“Jincy brings a gritty, experienced edge to a highly competitive position,” said Sirens General Manager Pascal Daoust. “She’s the kind of defender who embraces the battles—every shift, every inch—using her speed, intelligence, and physical presence to make an impact.”

Originally from O’Fallon, Missouri, Roese spent the past two seasons with the Ottawa Charge, where she served as an alternate captain and played in 51 regular-season games, posting 19 points (3 goals, 16 assists). She led all Charge defenders in scoring during the 2024–25 campaign, tallying 14 points (3G, 11A) across 27 games.

Before entering the PWHL, Roese played for the PWHPA and starred at Ohio State University, where she was a co-captain, earned First-Team All-American honors, and was named WCHA Defender of the Year in 2019–20. Internationally, she represented Team USA at the 2022 Olympic Games and at the 2021 and 2022 IIHF Women’s World Championships, earning silver medals in all three appearances.

“Signing with New York was an easy ‘yes’,” said Roese. “My husband and I already call this city home, and now I get to bring my hockey life here, too. I’m beyond grateful and excited to help build on what the Sirens have started.”

Standing 5’6″, Roese is the first external signing of the offseason for New York and will join a defensive unit anchored by captain Micah Zandee-Hart, alternate captain Ella Shelton, Jaime Bourbonnais, and Maja Nylén Persson, all under contract for 2025–26.
