Nevada competes against Pacific in home opener Sunday

RENO, Nev. – Nevada women’s basketball is set to play its home opener on Sunday against Pacific on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Lawlor Events Center.

Larry Burnett will have the call on 94.1 FM and 1450 AM, with a 20 minute pregame show prior to tipoff. Fans can also listen live online through the Varsity Network. The game will be available to watch on Nevada Sports Net and live stats can be accessed through Sidearm.

The Pack collected 20 wins in the 2021-22 season, the second-most victories in Nevada women’s basketball history. After finishing third in the Mountain West, Nevada was invited to the WBI for the second time under head coach Amanda Levens. Nevada returns nine players in 2022-23, including Mountain West All-Defensive Team selection Alyssa Jimenez along with Mountain West All-Freshman Team guard Audrey Roden.

Freshman forward Kennedy Lee has proven she can make an immediate impact for Nevada. Lee scored 12 points in the season opener on Nov. 7 at Saint Mary’s, the first freshman under Levens to score in double figures.

After playing in just six career games during her first two years at Nevada, Tiffany Siu (pronounced Soo) has given the Pack a lift off the bench. The Oakland, California, native scored all of her first nine career points on Nov. 7 at Saint Mary’s while playing a career-high 30 minutes off the bench.

After winning its first game of the season at UC Riverside, Pacific is looking to bounce back after falling in its home opener against No. 2 Stanford. Pacific held Stanford to a five-point deficit after the first quarter, but the Cardinal’s shooting caught fire to defeat the Tigers in Stockton. The Tigers average 63.5 points per game in addition to grabbing 40.5 rebounds per game.

Anaya James and Liz Smith lead Pacific in scoring, with each averaging 12.5 points per game. Smith led the Tigers in scoring on Friday against No. 2 Stanford by pouring in 13 points, hitting a trio of 3-pointers in the process.
