MLS Preview: St. Louis City SC (6-3-1) at FC Dallas (4-3-3)

FC Dallas has won 17 of its 22 home matches against expansion teams (D3 L2), including winning 11 of the last 13 at Toyota Stadium. In fact, Nashville SC is the only expansion team team since 2010 to earn any points at FC Dallas, recording a win and a draw in 2010.

Including last season’s playoffs, FC Dallas has recorded five wins, five draws and five losses over its last 15 MLS matches, scoring and conceding 17 times in those games. Four of FC Dallas’ five wins, and 14 of its 20 points, in that span have been earned at home.

Despite just one win in its last five MLS games (D1 L3). St. Louis City SC’s 19 points are the second most by an expansion team after 10 games in league history (Los Angeles Football Club – 20 in 2018). St. Louis City SC has scored multiple goals in all six of its wins (20 total) while scoring just two total over its other four games (D1 L3).

FC Dallas has pressed less than any other team this season, recording just 94 high press sequences. St. Louis City SC, on the other hand, has recorded 167 pressing sequences this season, third-most in the league behind only the New York Red Bulls (201) and D. C. United (171).

St. Louis City SC attempted an average of 22.3 tackles per match this season, 3.5 more than any other team in the league (D.C. United – 18.8), winning a league-high 13.6 per games. St Louis City SC also lead MLS in fouls committed, averaging 15.4 per game.
