MLS Preview: Philadelphia Union (12-7-4) at D.C. United (8-11-6)

Both meetings between D. C. United and the Philadelphia Union in 2023 have ended in scoreless draws, including a Leagues Cup meeting that the Philadelphia Union won on penalties. The Philadelphia Union won both meetings with D. C. united last season, outscoring them 13-0, in the two games.

D. C. united has failed to score in four of its last five matches in all competitions, including the last three in a row (1 total goal). Prior to this scoring drought, D. C. United had scored in 15 of its previous 18 matches dating back to mid-April.

The Philadelphia Union has won only four of its last 19 away matches in all competitions (D7, including two penalty shoot-out losses, L8dating back to last September. The Philadelphia last eight matches in all competitions have been played at Subaru Park as they haven’t gone on the road since July 12 (2-0 win at Nashville SC).

The Philadelphia Union’s last 11 goals in regular-season play have been scored by nine different players (excluding own goals). Only Daniel Gazdag and Jose Martinez (2 each) have scored more than once in league play since June 10.
