MLS Preview: Nashville SC (8-3-4) at FC Dallas (6-4-5)

Nashville SC knocked FC Dallas out of this year’s US Open Cup with a 2-0 home win in the fourth round in May. It was the fifth clean sheet Nashville SC has kept in seven meetings against FC Dallas, though FC Dallas has won both matches in which it has scored against Nashville SC.

FC Dallas has lost only one of its last 15 home matches (W9 D5, including playoffs), including winning four of the last six at Toyota Stadium (D2). FC Dallas has held opponents to fewer than two goals in a club-record 17 straight home matches, including allowing exactly one goal in each of its last 11 at home.

Nashville SC is unbeaten in seven straight MLS matches (W5 D2), including winning five of the last six and the last three in a row. The 17 points Nashville SC has picked up over that span are its most in a seven-game span in the club’s MLS history.

Jesus Ferreira scored his ninth goal of the season in FC Dallas’s defeat to Sporting Kansas City on Wednesday. After scoring 18 times last year, Ferreira is one goal away from becoming the first player to record consecutive 10-goal seasons for FC Dallas since Blas Perez in 2014-15.

Hany Mukhtar recorded a goal and an assist in Nashville SC’s win over the Columbus Crew SC on Sunday, his fifth game this year with multiple goal contributions. Since the start of the 2021 season, Mukhtar has 22 games with multiple goal contributions, seven more than any other player in that time.
