MLS Preview: Minnesota United FC (1-0-1) at Colorado Rapids (0-2-1)

Colorado is unbeaten in its six all-time home games against Minnesota United FC, including wins in each of the last five home fixtures. the Rapids have only three longer regular-season home win streaks against a single team in club history with the most recent being a six-game streak against Vancouver (2013-16).

The Rapids are coming off a 1-0 loss to the San Jose Earthquakes, the team’s third consecutive game without scoring a goal to start the 2023 season. Only two teams, the 2015 version of the Rapids and Toronto FC in 2007, have started a season with four straight goalless games.

Bongokuhle Hlongwane scored Minnesota United FC’s lone goal against the New York Red Bulls Saturday, his first of the season, his first of the season and third of his MLS career. Hlongwane is the first South African player to score in MLS in consecutive season since Danleigh Borman scored in 2008, 2009 and 2010 for the New York Red Bulls.
