MLS Preview: CF Montréal Impact (1-3-0) at Vancouver Whitecaps FC (0-2-3)

Every one of the 10 MLS gatherings between the Vancouver Whitecaps FC and the CF Montreal Impact beginning around 2015 have seen a victor with Montreal six to Vancouver’s four. Every other MLS opponent that each team has played at least ten times against has at least one draw during that time.

The Vancouver Whitecaps are coming off a 1-1 road draw with the Minnesota United FC, their third straight 1-1 game. The Colorado Rapids in 2015 and the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2009 were the only two teams in the history of the Major League Soccer to finish with four consecutive games that ended with one goal each.

The CF Montreal Impact return to the field for the first time since their 3-2 victory over the Philadelphia Union at home last week. With the exception of St. Louis City DC, CF Montreal is the only team in the league that has not lost a game with multiple goals scored since the start of the 201 season (W28 D6).

Simon Becher became the first player for Vancouver Whitecaps FC to score in each of his first two MLS appearances, despite not starting either game, with his goal in stoppage time against Minnesota United FC in the second half. Charlie Davies was the only player to start his MLS career with three goals in a row, all as a reserve, in 2011.

Against the Philadelphia Union, Romell Quioto scored two goals, including the game-winning header at 97:13. The most recent non-penalty goal scored by CF Montreal in MLS history was that one.
