MLS Preview: CF Montreal Impact (0-2-0) at Nashville SC (1-0-1)

The only time Nashville SC and CF Montreal Impact have met, Nashville SC won 2-1 at home in the season-opening encounter. Nashville SC is unbeaten in five of those matches (W3 D2). Montreal is the only team Nashville hasn’t beaten at least once against out of the seven MLS teams Nashville has played at least five times (including playoffs).

The second-longest shutout streak in Nashville SC’s history (four consecutive in May 2021) dates back to the previous season. Since August 21, 2022, Nashville SC has kept six clean sheets in its last ten regular season games, the most in MLS.

The only MLS team with no goals and no points this season is CF Montreal Impact, who lost to Austin FC 1-0. In the history of the MLS, only four teams have started a season with three consecutive shutout losses; 2020 for New York City FC, 2018 for Seattle FC, 2007 for Toronto FC, and 1999 for the Kansas City Wizards

Nashville SC had just five shots in its 0-0 draw with the New York Red Bulls, and no player attempted more than one. Before Saturday, Nashville had had at least two players attempt multiple shots in 19 consecutive MLS games, including playoffs.

Romell Quioto led CF Montreal on Saturday with three chances, attempted two shots, and perfect passing accuracy (13/13). The main other Montreal player to at any point achieve that statline in a MLS game was Dominic Oduro against Wearing Kansas City in 2017.
