Lynx Activate Kayla McBride

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – The Minnesota Lynx today announced the team has activated guard Kayla McBride and in a subsequent move, released guard Yvonne Turner from her hardship contract.

McBride, a 5-11 guard, returns to Minnesota after spending her winter with the Turkish club Fenerbahce where in 28 KBSL games (regular season and playoffs combined) she averaged 16.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists and in 18 EuroLeauge games (regular season and playoffs combined) she tallied 17.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. Last year, she concluded her first season in Minnesota (eighth in the WNBA) by starting all 32 games and tallied 13.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 31.6 minutes per game. Her averages ranked 20th in scoring, 18th in three-point accuracy (37.9 percent) and fourth in free through accuracy (91.0 percent).

In four games (two starts) this season Turner, a 5-10 guard, averaged 6.3 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 22.0 minutes per game for Minnesota. In her best contest this season on May 8 against Washington, Turner tallied 11 points on 3-of-6 from the field, including two from deep. She added three rebounds, three assists and one steal in 19:27 minutes of play from the bench.

McBride will be available for the Lynx road contest on May 17 against the Los Angeles Sparks. Tip is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. CT and will broadcast on Bally Sports North Extra.
