Hurricanes’ Cole Fined for Kneeing

NEW YORK – Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Ian Cole has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for kneeing Winnipeg Jets forward Mark Scheifele during NHL Game No. 395 in Winnipeg on Tuesday, Dec. 7, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 7:36 of the third period. Cole was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for kneeing.

 

The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
